Peak Pride 2017 coming to Big White Ski Resort
As Canada's newest LGBT2Q+* winter destination event, Peak Pride will celebrate self-expression and community, with a full line-up of events covering everything from family-friendly activities to high-voltage nightlife with top tier talent.
Special weekend events will include a welcome reception, Freestyle Party, Après Ski Beer Garden, Wipeout Party and VIP Chatters Brunch. Entertainment talent has also been confirmed from Kelowna, Calgary, Vancouver, Toronto and USA – including a Canadian dance music diva and an international drag superstar from ‘Ru Pauls' Drag Race All Stars Season 2’. Identities will be kept secret until the big reveal on Peak Pride’s social media platforms.
Kelowna locals Dustyn Baulkham and Peter Breeze are co-producers of the Peak Pride festival. After many years of volunteering in the LGBT2Q+ community around the country, they saw an opportunity to bring a new, exciting and inclusive event to Kelowna.
“Peter and I are pleased to be working with the hard working team at Big White to realize our vision for Peak Pride,” says Baulkham.
“The diversity of our community continues to grow and evolve,” adds Breeze. “This has inspired us as we developed what Peak Pride will look like and we cannot wait to welcome everyone to Big White in April.”
Anyone interested in attending Peak Pride will be offered exclusive ski & stay packages through Big White Ski Resort. Rates start at $144/night (+tax) for a minimum 2-night stay.
With its breathtaking views and world-class terrain, Big White is the ideal location to host Peak Pride. As one of Canada’s most accessible ski destinations, the resort is located 56km outside of Kelowna, British Columbia, or a 45-minute drive from Kelowna International Airport (YLW), a destination serviced regularly by non-stop flights from Vancouver, Toronto, Calgary, Edmonton, Whitehorse, Seattle, Phoenix and Las Vegas.
“As Canada’s favourite family resort, we are an all-inclusive business. We welcome everyone to come out and experience Big White Ski Resort. We are looking forward to hosting Peak Pride and welcoming its guests from all over North America,” says Michael J. Ballingall, Senior Vice-President of Big White Ski Resort Ltd.
On average, 24 feet of Mother Nature’s finest, dry, champagne powder falls annually on Big White mountain, blanketing over 118 runs, five powder bowls, and 765 acres of skiable terrain. The resort features day skiing and night skiing, a world-renowned Ski & Board School, and one of North America’s top 10 terrain parks, as voted in USA Today’s 10best Awards.
For the non-skier, the resort offers numerous adventure activities including snowmobiling, dog sled tours, horse drawn dining tours, ice-climbing, ice-skating, tubing and snowshoe tours, to name a few. When it’s time to après, Big White has plenty of places to eat and drink.
