Learn & Turn Beginner Friday Nights

Are you ready to hit the slopes for the first time!? We are thrilled to introduce Learn & Turn, our brand-new beginner ski and snowboard program designed to make learning easy, fun, and unforgettable! Available every Friday night, starting January 17 until March 21.

Whether you're stepping into skis for the very first time or looking to build confidence on the mountain, our expert instructors and world-class facilities will have you turning down the slopes with ease in no time. With a supportive and relaxed environment, Learn & Turn is the perfect way to start your skiing journey and make memories that will last a lifetime.

This Friday night beginner program is for people aged 13+ and includes:

  • A discounted beginner lift ticket
  • Discounted beginner (level 1) lesson at the Magic Carpet at the Big White Adventure Park
  • Ski or Snowboard rentals

TERMS & CONDITIONS

Beginner lift ticket is for the magic carpet area only. You may only participate in the program once. Must be new to the sport and an absolute beginner. Package includes a beginner lesson and a beginner lift ticket – equipment rental is an optional add on. All prices are quoted per person. Rates are in Canadian dollars. Applicable taxes will be added to all prices. Dates and prices may be subject to change without notice. Some restrictions may apply. We do not guarantee snow conditions, weather conditions, open terrain or number of lifts operating. All pricing advertised is inclusive of any applicable discounts.


What to bring

  • Credit card: a credit card imprint is required for security purposes on equipment rentals. Guests will be charged in the event of missing or stolen equipment.
  • Photo ID: we require government issued photo ID to check-in all guests.
  • A sense of adventure! Gliding down a snow-covered mountain gives a feeling of freedom and exhilaration like no other!

What to wear

  • Mitts or Gloves: These are considered personal items, and cannot be rented. We have an excellent selection available to buy in our retail stores
  • Goggles: Eye protection is an important addition to ensure your comfort. These are considered personal items, and cannot be rented.
  • Jacket and Pants: It's recommended you wear a waterproof jacket and pants. If you don't have any, a limited supply is available for rental.
  • Other Warm Layers: Such as long underwear, sport socks, neck warmers to stay nice and cozy for your lesson.

Your experience

  • Parking: Free parking is located in the Happy Valley parking lot.  From Happy Valley you can take the free gondola to the village.
  • Pick up your Beginner ticket: Located outside of the Village Centre Mall is a Ticket Pick up Box. Use your QR code from your receipt to scan and receive your ticket.
  • Pick up your rental equipment: If required, please go to Rentals inside the Village Centre Mall at 5:00pm. Allow 45 minutes for your equipment fitting.
  • Meet & Greet: Once you have your rentals, meet your group at the Big White Chair by the Ski & Board School Meeting Place for 5:45pm.
  • Beginner Area: Once you're set up with all of your gear and ticket, you'll head to our Learning Area with your group and instructor.

*Meet your instructor, geared up and ready to learn in the Village at the Meeting Place Ski School signs. Please head to rentals by 5:00pm to allow time for equipment fitting. 

 

Ski Ability Levels All Ages

1

Level 1

You have never skied before, or you are learning to stop using a snowplow. Your lesson takes place in the beginner area at Happy Valley.

2

Level 2

You have skied before and can stop comfortably. You are now learning the fundamentals of controlling direction. Your lesson takes place in the beginner area at Happy Valley.

3

Level 3

You are comfortable making snowplow turns on the magic carpet and are ready to navigate busier terrain using our novice lift, Plaza Chair. Your lesson takes place on Plaza Chair.

4

Level 4

You can comfortably follow your instructor’s line and speed on Plaza Chair and are ready to explore green and blue terrain higher on the mountain using a snowplow. You are learning to ski confidently in a parallel stance on green and blue runs.

5

Level 5

You can ski parallel, in control, on groomed blue runs and are ready to increase your speed in ungroomed terrain. You are learning to adapt to changing snow conditions and terrain as you progress.

6

Level 6

You can confidently ski ungroomed advanced runs at speed while maintaining a parallel stance. You are learning tactics to confidently approach challenging conditions and terrain throughout the mountain.

Snowboard Ability Levels All Ages

1

Level 1

You have never snowboarded before, or you are learning to stop and control your speed. Your lesson takes place in the beginner area at Happy Valley.

2

Level 2

You have snowboarded before and can stop comfortably. You are learning the fundamentals of controlling direction. Your lesson takes place in the beginner area at Happy Valley.

3

Level 3

You are comfortable making linked turns on the magic carpet and are ready to navigate busier terrain using our novice lift, Plaza Chair. Your lesson takes place on Plaza Chair.

4

Level 4

You can comfortably follow your instructor’s line and speed on Plaza Chair and are ready to explore green and blue terrain higher on the mountain. You are looking to build confidence and control on novice and intermediate runs across the mountain.

5

Level 5

You can link turns with control on groomed blue runs and are ready to increase your speed in ungroomed terrain. You are learning to adapt to changing snow conditions and terrain as you progress.

6

Level 6

You can confidently ride ungroomed advanced runs at speed while maintaining control. You are learning tactics to confidently approach challenging terrain and conditions throughout the mountain.
