Gratitude for Frontline and Essential Service Workers Should Continue
KELOWNA, September 7, 2021 – Big White Ski Resort announces that it received over 2000 chairlift visitors over Labour Day Weekend, with its Free Chairlift offer for frontline and essential workers.
On September 1, the resort announced that all of these community members would be welcome to receive a complimentary pass throughout the closing weekend of its summer operations.
According to Michael J. Ballingall, Senior Vice President at Big White Ski Resort Ltd., the response to this offer was very positive. The resort and its stakeholders hope that the growing support for these workers will continue throughout the province.
“Thank you, everyone, for coming, and we will remain focused on these vital members of our community," says Ballingall. “We are proud to showcase our support and gratitude. These people are our modern-day heroes – let’s keep the love going.”
Last week, the KGH Foundation rolled out its White Heart Project to help showcase support for those working within Kelowna General Hospital. People can donate and display their support for these workers with a white heart and by posting on social media with the hashtags #WhiteHeartProject and #WhiteHeartsForKGH. All funds raised will go directly towards purchasing care and comfort items for KGH employees.
"We hope to inspire more businesses and members of our community to donate and support those who are dedicating themselves to leading us forward out of this pandemic."
Big White Ski Resort is committed to encouraging everyone to help support all frontline and essential workers. For those who would like to participate in the Kelowna-based White Heart Project, please visit the KGF Foundation website.
