Theft Prevention & Engraving

Big White Ski Resort recommends all skiers and snowboarders lock up their equipment to prevent theft or loss during their visit.

There are lockable ski racks at all of the day lodges including; Happy Valley, Village Centre Mall, Black Forest, Ridge and Gem Lake. You can find additional racks outside of the following businesses: The Bullwheel, the Inn at Big White and Chateau Big White.

Ski Key Locks (also used for snowboards) and Dakine Cable Locks can be purchased at our retail locations, including at Altitude and Rider in the Village Centre Mall.

If you are unsure of whether your belongings were stolen or lost, you can also contact our Concierge Desk at resortservice@bigwhite.com or by calling 250-491-6111 to check the on-resort lost and found. You can also file a lost and found claim.

To further protect your gear, consider having it engraved, for no charge, at the on-mountain Community Police Office (CPO) 7 days a week from 1:00 pm to 4:00pm during the winter season. Simply bring your equipment and driver’s license to the CPO, which is located in Whitefoot Lodge and is accessed from the deck past the Globe Cafe. The number on your license, which is traceable by all police departments, is engraved in a discrete location on your equipment.

If you wish, stickers indicating the equipment is part of the Ski Watch program are applied to deter theft. If your gear is suspected as stolen, you can report the theft to the CPO. Volunteers complete reports of thefts and/or losses that happen at the resort. These reports are filed with the RCMP and generate file numbers that are available to the victims/complainants for insurance purposes.
