What’s New at Big White Resort this summer
When the snow melts, the mountain comes alive with summer fun. We’ve got some exciting announcements about what’s new on the mountain over the coming months. With the season set to kick off on June 28, we can’t wait to see you up here.
Extended opening hours
Big White Resort and Bike Big White are excited to announce extended opening hours for the 2018 summer season. The resort will now be open from Thursday through to Monday every week, with the Bullet Chair spinning daily from 10am to 5pm. You can also join us on Friday nights for Extended Play in the bike park – the Bullet Chair will spin until 7:30pm every Friday for bikers only to enjoy the park in the longer daylight hours.
Summer accommodation at Big White
Big White has now opened a range of summer accommodation available to book with Central Reservations. With accommodation options starting from just $68 per night, and everything from hotel rooms to townhouses and condos available, Big White is a great option for a family-friendly getaway. Hike and bike during the day, enjoy dinner at one of our on-mountain restaurants, then relax in your private hot tub as you enjoy the sunset over the Monashees.
Camping
Whether you have a tent or an RV, you’re welcome at the new Big White Campgrounds this summer. This comfortable campground is located at Black Forest and includes all essential amenities, including washrooms, running water and picnic tables. Even your pets are welcome! Simply walk or drive to the Village to access all summer activities. After a big day on the mountain, relax at the campground’s communal fire pit and enjoy the sunset over the trees.
Big White Kids Zone
Bring the little ones along to our brand new FREE Kids Zone outside the White Crystal Inn. It’ll be the ultimate backyard games experience, complete with arts and crafts such as rock painting, lantern making and pet bug making. The best part? The location allows parents to enjoy a burger at The Woods while watching their kids create their own adventures in the Kids Zone.
Big White Invitational Slopestyle
Watch the 25 top-ranked FMB riders for North America, plus 5 wildcard entries, throw down their best tricks on our new slopestyle course from July 4 through to July 8 at the Big White Invitational Slopestyle. This weekend is one not to be missed, with beer gardens, music, demos and much more - plus it's the only FMB World Tour Gold event in North America, giving Canadian riders a chance to compete on home soil.
Dining
This summer, Big White has more dining options available than ever before, with exciting options added to menus across the mountain. Head to The Woods to see if you can conquer the newest item on the menu, a foot-long hot dog that’s sure to hit the spot after a big day on the mountain - or try the new housemade, locally-sourced Kransky sausages for breakfast at Globe Café. Snowshoe Sam's has also added new mini donuts to their menu, which you can sample after enjoying the drinks and chicken wings on special during their new Happy Hour, every Friday to Sunday, from 4pm to 6pm.
When you’re done with a day of hiking, biking and scenic chairlift rides, head to The Blarney Stone. Newly open for the summer, this restaurant will offer up deliciously hearty, Irish-inspired dinner options. You can also find craft beers, smokehouse eats and escape rooms at Sessions Taphouse & Grill, opening for the first time in the summer months this season. Both restaurants have great decks overlooking the mountain views.
New Bike Park Trails
Building throughout the fall has seen the addition of upper blue flow trail, along with the detuning of our signature Joker Trail. Trail construction will also continue throughout the summer, with new trails set to open as they are completed – adding to the 51km of terrain and 406m of vertical currently available. A mix of green, blue, black and double black trails, with flow and technical terrain, ensures there’s something out there for every rider.
Bike Valet
Securely store your mountain bike overnight with our new valet service, conveniently located right in the Village – just $10 per night plus applicable taxes.
Horseback adventures
Big White Mountain Horseback Adventures are now running seven days a week. Enjoy the trails and vistas of beautiful Big White from the view of the saddle, with all mountaintop adventures tailored to your experience and time. Everyone from first timers to expert riders are welcome. You can even opt for a package that includes a cheese tasting or cowboy breakfast and picnic lunch from Globe or The Blarney Stone.
Women’s Camps
The Big White Bike School will be holding two Women’s Camps throughout the season, designed and tailored for female riders to focus on fun, safety and skills. The camps include an Intro to Downhill Camp and a Progression Downhill Camp, covering beginners and intermediates to progress in a pressure-free environment to progress at their own pace.
Youth Camp
Our pros from the Bike School will show your little grommet the basics to safely ride the park and have a blast while doing it. This new Youth Camp program, run from July 20 to July 22, is geared for youth from 9 to 15 years of age, with all skill levels welcome.
