Green Means Go - Help Big White Ski Resort Celebrate Tourism Week 2022

Posted On: May 30, 2022 |
It’s been a challenging couple of years for the tourism industry, and the whole world, and now that borders are reopening, travel is resuming, and tourism operators are back doing what they do best – creating fun!

– Big White Ski Resort is joining in on the Tourism Industry Association of Canada’s Tourism Week 2022.

From Sunday, May 29, to Saturday, June 4, TIAC is encouraging tourism partners to “come together to champion and promote Canada’s destinations, tourism businesses, and employees.” This year’s theme is “Travel Now: For Work, Life, and Play!” with a social media campaign of #GreenMeansGo. We all have the green light to get the tourism industry back on its feet!

Big White Ski Resort has been a tourism staple for nearly 60 years (we’re celebrating our 60th Anniversary in 2023!). From humble beginnings – just one T-Bar and big dreams – to becoming BC's second most popular ski resort, with over 600,000 skier visits annually, and hosting western Canada’s second largest lifting system, Big White has brought millions of tourists into the Okanagan to not only enjoy what the resort has to offer, but to explore the local area and all of the other tourism attractions.

Each year, Big White Ski Resort employs upwards of 1,200 staff from all over the world, not including all of the staff employed by other on-mountain businesses. For nearly five months of the year, those individuals enjoy everything our beautiful region has to offer, and upon finishing the season, often move into the valley to be employed by one of the countless wineries, restaurants, hotels, adventure operators, etc.

Over the years, Big White Ski Resort has become so much more than just a ski resort. Voted Canada’s Favourite Family Resort, and the 2nd best resort in Canada by Condé Nast Traveler readers, Big White offers up a family friendly experience like no other – skating, fireworks, snowmobiling, dog sledding, tubing, horse drawn sleigh rides, and so much more.

Big White has also become a summer destination, with BC’s newest lift-accessible bike park, hiking trails galore, disc golf, and weekend festivals – including the return of the favourite Craft & Country, Beer & Music Mountain Festival!

We are so excited to be involved in TIAC’s Tourism Week, and to be a champion for tourism recovery in Canada after the devastating consequences of the pandemic. Join us in celebrating Tourism Week by using the hashtags #GreenMeansGo and ##TourismWeekCanada2022.
