Driving to Big White - Day Parking is Free!

 

Big White Ski Resort is located 56 km (35 mi) southeast of Kelowna, BC. From Kelowna, take Highway 33 for 32 km (20 mi), then turn onto Big White Road. Follow Big White Road for another 24 km (15 mi) to reach the main village. View Maps >>

Please Note: Parking on village roads is strictly prohibited by law. Vehicles parked illegally are subject to fines and towing without notice.

Free Day Parking

Free day parking is available at the following lots:

• Gem Lake Lot
• Ridge Lot
• Black Forest Lot
• Happy Valley Lot

Important: Parking spaces are limited, and all are for day use only.

For skiers needing rentals or equipment, parking in Happy Valley is recommended. From there, take a free gondola ride on Lara’s Gondola to the Village, where you’ll find the main ticket office, rentals, retail shops, and other services.

Prohibited:

• Snowmobile loading/unloading, trailer storage, and long-term vehicle storage are not allowed in any Big White Ski Resort parking lots.
• Parking on village roads is strictly prohibited by law. Vehicles parked illegally are subject to fines and towing without notice.

Overnight Parking & RV Parking - (Permit Required)

A limited amount of overnight parking is available by permit only at the Happy Valley Long-Term Parking Lot. Permits are required, and unauthorized vehicles will be towed at the owner's expense.

Permit Costs:

• Overnight Parking: $25 per night, per vehicle (no trailers allowed).
• Weekly Parking: $125 per week, per vehicle (no trailers or RVs/campers allowed).
• RV/Camper Parking: $50 per night, per RV/camper (maximum of 7 nights per season).

Please Note:

• All vehicles must display a valid permit on the dashboard.
• Vehicles must be moved every 7 days for snow removal.
• There are no services (electricity, water, etc.) available for RVs.

Permits can be obtained at the Central Mountain Check-In building at Happy Valley. Be sure to follow all posted parking rules throughout the resort.

Guest Parking for Central Reservations

Guests staying through Big White Central Reservations receive complimentary parking, either at their accommodation or in the Happy Valley Lot. Parking passes are available at the front desk upon check-in. Additional parking is subject to availability, and demand is high during peak season.

Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

Big White Ski Resort offers 100kW, 200A rapid charging stations in the Happy Valley Parking Lot. These stations feature both CHAdeMO and Combo (CCS1) plugs. Note: Adaptors for other plug types are not available on-site. Learn more about Flow EV charge locations and plugs here.

Important Tips for Your Trip

• Carpooling: To help reduce parking congestion, we encourage ridesharing and carpooling whenever possible.
• Road Clearing: For snow removal and other inquiries, contact AIM Roads at 1.866.222.4204.

Winter Tire & Snow Chain Requirements

When travelling to Big White, be prepared for winter driving conditions:

• Winter Tires: British Columbia law requires winter tires or chains on many highways during winter months. Tires marked with a mountain peak and snowflake are recommended for severe snow conditions.
• Chains: If road signs indicate that chains are required, you must be ready to install them, especially before reaching uphill grades.

Fines: Failure to have the proper equipment can result in fines, and driving without chains in dangerous conditions can put your safety at risk. For more information about winter tire requirements in BC, visit the Government of BC's Transportation Information for Winter Driving.

Safe Driving Tips for Winter Conditions

• Keep a safe distance from other vehicles; it takes longer to stop on snow and ice.
• Be cautious at intersections, turns, and lane changes.
• Brake and accelerate slowly to avoid skidding.
• Use low-beam headlights and rely on roadside reflectors when visibility is poor.
• Be patient and give snowplows plenty of space to operate safely.
